HISTORY OF CINDYS

In 1971, a vision of product quality imparted by consistent freshness and taste, and innovativeness in store design, colors, packaging, and related aspects was turn into a reality with Cindy’s first branch in Tarlac City and became the destination of choice by visitors and residents alike with its freshly baked breads hot from the oven, refreshments such as halo-halo, local snacks like pancit luglog.

Cindy’s eventually branched out to Olongapo City and Metro Manila as part of a strategic marketing plan and was rewarded with loyal patrons from the teenage and young adult market.

The introduction of new products such as the burger line, spaghetti, and French-fries to the Snack section and new dishes to the Express Meal section proved to be a favourable decision in the continuous store expansion in Metro Manila, Tarlac province and Northern Luzon.

In an effort to establish its brand identity, Cindy’s undertook several moves including standardizing its logo and embarking on a national advertising campaign with the slogan “The Place to Be”.

Cindy’s gave equal marketing attention to its three sections namely: Hamburger section (burgers, spaghetti, French fries, etc.) Express Meal section (rice dishes, desserts, etc.), and bakeshop section (baked varieties, cakes, breads, pastries, etc.) in sticking to the “typical” fastfood theme. An extensive survey conducted in mid-90s led to the opening of Cindy’s “new concept” store in December 1996, wherein Cindy’s was re-established as a bakery foremost and a restaurant second, successfully differentiating itself from other run-of-the-mill fast food players. The snack and Express Meal line were retained as a complement the primary positioning of Cindy’s as a bakery store.

More than just redesigning the logo, look of the stores, uniforms, and the marketing direction of Cindy’s, an equally important decision for all the changes were to be meant to appeal to the family; in other words, to become an ideal destination for all members of the family, rather than mainly the teenage and young adult crowd.

To date, there are forty branches of Cindy’s including bakery stands, but excluding bakery dealerships. For a complete list of all branches, please visit the Store Locator link.
